From Manali to Leh / Ladakh / India / Oct 2009
Ladakh is a region of the Indian Federal State Jammu and Kashmir and takes nearly half of the surface of this Federal State. The area is to a large extent high mountains and thinly settled. Ladakh is admits for the beauty of its remote mountains and for the Tibetan Buddhist culture.
Therefore Ladakh is called "little Tibet". Ladakh was an independent Buddhist kingdom.
A collapse of the relations with Tibet ended with the attempt of an invasion by fifth Dalai Lama.
By Kashmir the Ladakhi could exercise again control of their country, but this had its price:
In Leh a mosque had to be established, and which ladakh king had to convert to the Islam.
Later Kashmir annexed the kingdom and terminated its independence,
in order to become later than consequence some from British India to.
The area of the kingdom is today some of Pakistan,
India and the Aksai Chin district of the People's Republic of China
